Birds and cocktail umbrellas

This is a textile project where i had to collect objects that reflect me and build projects around tem. I chose a cocktail umbrella to symbolise how i love to party and how i spend alot of time working in a bar. I chose the bird as this was off one of my favourite necklases and it symbolises how birds are free and can fly to wherever they want and i hope i will be like this one day.

I photocopied my samples and started to play around with colour untill i came up with these prints.

I used a variety of techniques in these pieces including stitch and layering materials in the heatpress.

Finding the beauty in everything

Aswell as photographing the odvious landmarks around Paris i also paid attention to the small things that people dont tend to take as much notice of. This is a bridge in Pasris where people hang locks decorated with there name and the name of the person they love. I thought this was so romantic and was a great symbol of people tying themselves to the city; i was tempted to leave my own.

I photographed alot of doorways(whilst recieving a few funny looks from people passing by) as i liked all the decorative detail. Its nice how someone has put in the work of  designing this and making it although most people would just see this for what it is. When i get my own home i would concider getting something similar so people know exactly what to expect when entering; lots of decorativness.

The difference in transport in Paris and the place where i live is extreme

The Louvre Museum

One of the museums that i visited whilst in Paris was The Louvre. I wanted to visit this museum through curiosity as well as research. I wanted to look at the decorative arts section of the museum so that i could look at decoration throughout different time periods.

I was amazed by how beautiful the museum is; everything is decorated to perfection and on a huge scale. Walking into the museum was like walking into a whole different world there is so much history and so much to see. This is just one of the many ceiling painting that i think is stunning.

This one of the many pieces from the Napoleans apartments collection. This collection has many decorative pieces and so i found it useful to look at. All the pieces had so much detail and i could tell that alot of time had been put into each one. I wish that there was still more demand for pieces like this as i would love to have something like this in my room.

Paris Architecture

Whilst in Paris i made the most of the time that i had and visited all of the famous landmarks such as the Effiel Tower and the Notre Dame. I paid particular interest in the architecture in the city as this is something that interests me as i like all of the decoration on buildings. I knew that i wanted my project to be based on decoration and pattern of some sort and so this was the perfect city to visit.

Paris - Place of inspiration

Earlier this year i went to Paris. I was just about to start my final major project at colege and i was looking for inspiration. It was at the beginning of march however it was lovley weather and i fell in love with the city from the start. I loved the nature of the people that live there as they just seem to enjoy life with no worries. I saw so much that i was inspired by and was upset to get on my flight back to enlgland.
